...RMAFC Commissioner calls on electorate across 20 LGAs to prepare for decisive electoral participation
Hon. Akeem Akintayo Amosun, FCIB, FCS, the Federal Commissioner representing Ogun State at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), has urged eligible voters across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and keep them ready ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Amosun, while emphasising the importance of active participation in the democratic process, called on the electorate to take advantage of the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) exercise to collect their PVCs and prepare to vote for Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon, popularly known as YAYI, whom he is backing for the Ogun State governorship seat in 2027.
The call comes as political activities and alignments gradually intensify ahead of the next general elections, with stakeholders and supporters of different political tendencies beginning to mobilise voters across the state.
According to Amosun, the collection of PVCs represents a critical step for eligible citizens who wish to participate in determining the political leadership and future direction of Ogun State.
He urged residents not to treat the exercise casually, stressing that voter participation begins with ensuring that their registration and voter identification documents are in order before election day.
PVC COLLECTION: A CRUCIAL STEP TOWARDS 2027
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the display of the preliminary voters' register and the collection of Permanent Voter Cards for eligible registrants from Friday, October 9, to Thursday, October 15, 2026.
The exercise is scheduled to run daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., according to the information provided for the exercise.
Eligible voters are advised to visit the designated INEC collection centres within the stipulated period to obtain their cards. PVC collection is to be done in person, as collection by proxy is not permitted.
Amosun's appeal is directed at eligible voters throughout Ogun State, including residents of Abeokuta, Ifo, Ewekoro, Ado-Odo/Ota, Ijebu-Ode, Ijebu North, Ijebu East, Sagamu, Remo North, Obafemi-Owode, Odogbolu, Yewa South, Yewa North, Ipokia, Imeko-Afon, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Ikenne, Ogun Waterside and Ijebu North-East.
He encouraged eligible residents who registered during the recent registration phase to confirm the appropriate collection arrangements and obtain their cards without delay.
DESIGNATED INEC CENTRES ACROSS OGUN STATE
The collection exercise is expected to be handled through INEC's designated offices, including the commission's state headquarters in Magbon, Abeokuta, and its local government offices across the state.
Locations identified in the information provided include Akomoje in Abeokuta North, Ibara in Abeokuta South, Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota, Ilaro and Ijebu-Igbo, alongside other designated centres.
Voters are advised to confirm their assigned collection locations with INEC before travelling, as collection arrangements may vary according to registration records and the commission's official directives.
The commission's requirement for personal collection also makes it important for eligible voters to plan their visits within the designated hours.
YAYI'S 2027 AMBITION AND THE POLITICAL MOBILISATION
Amosun's appeal also reflects the growing political mobilisation surrounding the 2027 Ogun governorship contest, particularly among supporters of Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon YAYI.
By urging voters to collect and safeguard their PVCs, the RMAFC commissioner is encouraging eligible citizens to prepare for the electoral process while making his political preference known.
Senator YAYI, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has featured prominently in political discussions surrounding the state's next governorship election.
Amosun's call seeks to connect voter registration and PVC collection with the broader political engagement expected in the months leading up to the election.
However, the final choice of governor will rest with the electorate through the ballot, in accordance with the electoral laws and procedures established by INEC.
VOTERS URGED NOT TO MISS THE WINDOW
With the PVC collection exercise scheduled for October 9–15, eligible voters are encouraged to use the available period to resolve any outstanding collection issues and verify their details where necessary.
A PVC is an important document for eligible voters participating in elections in Nigeria, and collecting it ahead of time can help reduce avoidable difficulties as election day approaches.
Amosun's message is therefore both a call for civic participation and an expression of support for YAYI's anticipated governorship ambition.
As political preparations gather momentum across Ogun State, the central message to eligible voters is clear: collect your PVC, keep it safe and be prepared to exercise your democratic right in 2027.
For Amosun and supporters of YAYI, the mobilisation effort represents an early step towards building electoral support across Ogun State's 20 local government areas.
